"The Talented Mr. Newman"

Where the Story Begins

A grandson wanted the truth about the real identity of his immigrant grandfather. The family was riddled with secrets. A death certificate exposed minimal information, but it started the investigation as an instrument of half-truths.

The case was coupled in finding living relatives of this talented man’s wife.

Research Highlights

The process was to find as much information about the immigrant in his adopt country and known associates, then move backwards.

His wife’s siblings and descendants never knew what happened to her. From core records in Canada, her roots were traced to Europe. Moving forward from her known siblings, living relatives were found.

The Result

The research was successful in finding the real identity of the cagey grandfather in less than two months. The talented man shed his birth identity―after boarding ship, only to exchange it for another.

Living relatives were found, and a festive reunion took place reuniting family of nearly a one-hundred year separation.
